The members of the Shepherd Area Historical Society have been busy lately, with the repairs to roof on the Powerhouse Museum annex, replacement of a window, renovations to the interior of the annex, and recently the repainting of the outside of the Little Red Schoolhouse.
These projects require funding, and the society has not slowed down as it plans for two upcoming events: the ice cream social on Monday, July 13, and a dinner planned for Wednesday, September 16.
Ice Cream Social
The community is invited to attend an Ice Cream Social on Monday, July 13 starting at 6 p.m. Ice cream will be given to attendees, and at 7 p.m. the Central Michigan Area Concert Band will perform live. An auction will be held towards the end of the evening for the chance for the highest bidder to do something special with the band. Last year, the auction prize was the opportunity to direct the band for their final number.
Fundraising Dinner
Tickets are now available for a fundraising dinner which will take place on Wednesday, September 16 from 4:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Shepherd Bar & Restaurant. Proceeds raised during the fundraiser will benefit the society.
Meals will cost $30 a piece, and attendees can choose from the following options when purchasing the tickets:
- Half a chicken with baked potato and green beans, OR
- Lasagna with green beans and garlic toast.
Plus:
- A chocolate chip cookie furnished by the Silver Spoon for dessert.
Community members can pre-order their meals by purchasing tickets, then pick up their carry out orders at the Shepherd Bar & Restaurant on Wednesday, September 16 between 4:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the bar.
Monthly Meetings
The Shepherd Area Historical Society meets regularly at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of the month inside the Powerhouse Museum.
